Taking care of our health is one of the greatest gifts we can give to ourselves, but it is also a gift to others. I want to be healthy for my husband and especially for my grandchildren.
Although I am a woman of maturity, it is my goal to never grow old. I can’t change my age, but I can make good choices to preserve my health. Every day, I strive for that goal in several ways.
Good Skin Care
I have always been a huge proponent of skin care. Daily cleansing and moisturizing are a must. I’ve never used expensive products, but I have found that keeping a daily regimen is the key. I always cleanse and moisturize my skin well morning and night When choosing a daytime moisturizer, be sure it includes sunscreen.
Be Active
Getting up off the couch and getting outside is paramount and for me, that means a lot of walking and hot air balloon crewing. Because I work full time, it’s not always easy to schedule in active time. If I get lazy about it, I think about a woman I recently met. She owns and runs a restaurant. She works six days a week and yet makes time to run 3 miles every morning. She is 73.
Eat Healthy
It’s not rocket science to know what is a healthy diet and what is not. Fruits, vegetables, and protein are always at the top of my list. Even if you eat well, there can still be vitamin deficiencies. The best way to determine that is to visit your doctor annually and have your bloodwork screened. Knowledge is power and my blood screening showed that I needed supplements to increase my calcium and vitamin D levels as well as keep a close eye on my cholesterol.
Sleep Well
My final health tip would be to always strive for a good night’s sleep. Like most people, my life is busy, and if I’ve slept well, I will be better prepared for my day and I’m a much nicer person overall.
If you give yourself the gift of health, who else in your life will reap the benefits? I have no doubt that your friends and family will appreciate the gift of a healthier you!
