AND WE WE AS HOW TO MATCHED OUR SKIN IN A MY DCYPHER MADE A CUSTOM-MADE AD SHADE
Online shopping always had to be a bit of a chance; would it be a good match or did you spend £32 on something you don’t really like? The Dcypher foundation business has drawn the guessing from the basic on-line purchasing using unique foundations.
Three of the GTG teams, including me, tried to provide the service and we were quite impressed by the awkward matches we got. The brand app scans your face less than a minute and the magical enchantment of a day or two later will be your ideal foundation.
Brands like Urban Decay, Trinny London and Il Makiage provide foundation tools for matching questions to help you discover a foundation that suits your face but because they do not scan your face, the results can be hit and miss if they match your skin tone. Also accessible are services like Findation where you enter the hues of some brands and propose the site for your ideal match.
What do you think about the DCYPHER FOUNDATION?
The procedure of Dcypher is rather different. The service uses your phone to scan your skin tone three times, and then enables you to personalise your formula, depending on the selection of your skin type amongst oily skin, balanced skin or dry skin. The app recommends that you use natural light to shoot your photos. The editorial manager of GTG, Victoria took hers in the workplace with strip lights (never the most attractive one), so we questioned how well the shade was.
Next you choose your covering and your finish, which is ultra-shaped, pure, medium and full: matte, natural or radiant, before an ID that shows your precise skin tone is created. I chose ultra-sheer and dazzling, for I could never say no to a shine. You then choose your undertone (neutral, warm, cold, etc), and you’re on your way, a sample pot from your foundation. You pay £28 in advance, which seems to be rather good for a foundation that you don’t know, but the shade may change and samples can be shipped as many as your wishes without incurring further costs, until you have the ideal match.
I actually don’t wear the foundation because I don’t enjoy the unending look for hues, and I detest how when I have the smallest tanning to get a new one. You will find me with the thickest coverage, the Tint and Glow Skin Enhancer by Aimee Connolly, £23, and that’s only if I go somehow lovely and have more glam to look in. In the best of times, as a base brewer, I was doubtful how Dcypher works, but had little time wondering how my sample came with a QR code only the following day for scanning to make any adjustments if the match didn’t work or for ordering a complete bottle.
