Tab masks creeped into your life a couple of years ago, and I first believed they wouldn’t get on a self-sufficient gimmick. The prohibition will push Holland and Barrett to move to sustainable alternatives, which I wanted. I soon discovered that environmentally friendly sheet masks are not as easy to get through as you would expect.

“Sheet masks are always troublesome since they are meant as one-use item and have to go inside an outer sleeve which may be hard to recycle,” explains Caroline Jacobs-Graf, founder of a platform for conscious companies A Little Find.

However, the brands are striving for an eco-friendly treatment; Bog Skincare sends its masks to make it easier to recycle the packaging, while the Mij facing masks of Maya Jama are made of bio-cellulose, compostable carbone-positive fibre and free of the disposable plastic insert. Moreover, FSC card boxes are created.
